If taking daily vitamins is part of your wellness routine and you have an upcoming flight scheduled, you may be wondering if you can bring vitamins on a plane.

According to the TSA website, you’re allowed to pack vitamins in both your carry-on bag and checked baggage. If they’re in solid forms like tablets, capsules, soft gels, or gummies, you can pack as many supplements as you like. Also, they don’t need to be labeled.

How to Bring Vitamins on a Plane

Now that you’ll be bringing your vitamins on your trip, check out the tips below for how to best pack vitamins for travel.

  • Keep them in a separate container – To prevent your supplements from spilling out or getting mixed up with other items, place them all together in a resealable bag.
  • Pack them in Your Carry-On – Always keep all your most important belongings in your carry-on bag. This way, they’re with you at all times, are easily attainable, and aren’t at risk of getting lost as they would be if they were packed in a checked bag.
  • Avoid Bringing Gummies & Liquid Forms – The TSA won’t allow you to pack liquid vitamins in your carry-on bag. Plus, liquids are inconvenient to pack, can expand and contract during travel, and may spill and make a mess. As for gummies, they might melt and stick together with temperature changes. Go with tablets, capsules, or hard soft gels instead since they’re less likely to be affected by environmental changes while traveling.

Is There Any Vitamin You Can’t Take on a Plane?

If your vitamins are in a solid form, the TSA will allow you to bring an unlimited amount of them in your carry-on bag or checked luggage.

As mentioned above, liquid vitamins are an exception. They can only be brought in a carry-on bag if they’re less than or equal to 3.4 ounces. You may be able to bring larger amounts of liquid vitamins on your flight, but only if they’re medically necessary.

Vitamins That Are Always Good to Pack

Whether you take vitamins regularly or not, it’s a good idea to bring a multivitamin and digestive enzyme with you whenever you travel. The multivitamin will help make up for any essential vitamins and minerals you may be missing while eating away from home. And a digestive enzyme will help promote digestive health while traveling.
