Disclaimer: Country Life Vitamins and Dr. Audrey do not diagnose, treat or prescribe. We aim to give you useful information to help you develop your own supplement routine that addresses your unique needs.
At the beginning of the year, Dr. Audrey, Naturopath, Master Herbalist, and Senior National Educator at Country Life Vitamins, shared tips for using supplements to support meeting your weight loss goals. She specifically discussed using our Gut Connection® Weight Balance as a weight management supplement to incorporate into your supplement routine.
Recently, Dr. Audrey talked more about what healthy weight loss looks like, shared feedback we’ve received from individuals using our weight management supplements, and shared some considerations for determining the next steps in your weight loss journey.
CLV: Our Gut Connection Weight Balance product contains Sinetrol®, an ingredient which a 16-week study found to help reduce body fat and decrease waist size and hip circumference. Why is reducing fat important when looking at overall weight loss?
Dr. Audrey: Reducing fat is what we really want to do. It’s not so much the scale weight we want to lose, but the fat. Maybe the number on the scale doesn’t change, but your clothes fit differently and you’re losing inches. That’s great!
CLV: We’ve heard from people using our Gut Connection products to help them get into great shape and feel their best. What is a common theme you’ve found in the feedback regarding this product line?
Is that because of the B vitamins in Energy Balance? Is it because of the additional gut support? Is it because they had more energy, helping them to get up and move rather than sit? We don’t know. But what we’ve heard is it makes a difference.
We all know diet and exercise are important and sometimes we just don’t have the energy to get up, so maybe adding the Energy Balance is that last little step some people need.
CLV: Can you expand on how gut support can help support your weight loss goals?
Dr. Audrey: Gut health is very important. There are probiotics and microbes in your gut that will tell your body whether to store fat or to use fat.
All 8 of the adult formulas in our Gut Connection product line have the base whole food fermentate, which supports gut health by helping to support your gut microbiome. When you’re consuming food or supplements you want them to be able to be absorbed and utilized at optimal levels – that’s what it means to have a healthy gut.
CLV: If you are not reaching your weight loss goals then you may want to evaluate the stress in your life.
Dr: Audrey: If stress is an issue, I would suggest adding Gut Connection Stress Balance into their routine. This product has Sensoril® Ashwagandha extract, which research has shown to be an adaptogen. This means it can adapt to what your body needs. It also has Suntheanine® L-Theanine, which is known to help with mental calmness.
Dr. Audrey’s Top Weight Loss Tips
There are a lot of different factors that can impact weight loss goals. Here are Dr. Audrey’s top takeaways and health tips for men and women:
1. There is no such thing as a magic bullet for weight loss. It comes down to diet and exercise, and then a healthy gut and beneficial weight management supplements.
2. Body composition is key - you want more muscle than fat. Look at the inches, rather than the number on the scale. It’s about how your clothes are fitting and how you feel in your body.
3. Assess if you’re getting enough exercise and what your diet looks like. Are you drinking water? Are you getting enough fruits and vegetables? Are you getting enough protein?
4. Keep your gut healthy.
5. Look at supplementation. Are you taking the right supplements for your unique needs?
6. If you’re on any prescription medication, check with your health care provider before taking any supplements. That’s always a given.
Celebrate and Keep Moving Forward
As you continue on your weight loss journey, it’s important to celebrate what you’ve done so far, the accomplishments you’ve already gained! Then take the next step based on what’s going to be right for you.
Remember, taking steps toward better health doesn’t start with New Year’s resolutions and end a few weeks later. It’s a long-term journey. To help prioritize your health all year long, follow these steps.
